By Travis Brown – Creator of Whole Leader Focus
I had just returned from vacation.
My team welcomed me back like I’d been gone for months — smiling, high-fiving, saying how much they missed me. It was affirming and encouraging. The kind of moment that makes you proud of the culture you’ve helped create.
But it came at a time when something else hit just as hard:
A business venture I’d been working on for years — one I had poured time, energy, and passion into — suddenly came to a halt.
In the same week, I was reminded of how much my team valued me…
And how much I’d let other parts of my life fall to the background.
The Wake-Up Call
It wasn’t just the missed opportunity in business that got to me.
It was the realization that I’d been leading with excellence at work — while coasting at home.
I had systems and vision for my work.
But when it came to my faith and my family— I’d let them run on autopilot- “more engaged than most”, but still the bar was really low.
That moment sparked a shift.
Leading From the Inside Out
It became clear: success in one area doesn’t excuse neglect in another.
The best leaders aren’t just good at business — they’re whole.
Whole-leader leadership means showing up with intention across all areas of life:
✅ In your Relationships
✅ In your Routines
✅ In your Faith
✅ In your Business
It means bringing the same clarity and forethought you put into your work into your home — and leading from a place of alignment, not just ambition.
A Better Way to Measure Growth
That season led to what’s now become the foundation of my work:
Whole Leader Focus — a coaching process for leaders who want to grow without losing what matters most.
Because real success isn’t just being missed at work.
It’s being fully present where you’re needed most.
Ready to be great outside of work too? Let’s talk.
